According to the International Diabetes Federation report on Global Diabetes Scorecard Tracking Progress for Action, Ghana has a framework for the monitoring and surveillance of diabetes but is not routinely implemented. The framework includes the incidence/prevalence of diabetes and the prevalence of raised blood pressure.
Health Education on Wheels Inc on February 16, 2018. collaborated with Akropong Akwuapem/Ghana Clinic and the Aged Program of Christ Presbyterian Church to provide diabetes and raised – blood pressure screening.
Health Education on Wheels program is based on a health care model that works to prevent Chronic diseases. The program focuses primarily on people with prediabetes or people with established risk factors for type 2 diabetes. Participants needing care were referred to the Akropong clinic for follow up.
